UNTIL HE COMES
Today is a beautiful, clear day, the first day of another year. The sun is so warm and the sky is so blue. All of God’s nature is asleep until spring. The deer and the turkeys come down from the woods every day for me to enjoy. My loved ones are all in good health. The Lord is good. Yet, there is an empty place in my heart – I lost my best friend, my sister, a few weeks ago. The Bible tells us that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Martha went home to be with her Savior, Jesus. I will see her again.
Death is an appointment we will keep. You can cancel earthly appointments, but God’s appointment you and I will keep. Are you prepared? The Bible tells us that it is appointed unto man once to die and then the judgment. Today is the day of salvation. Seek the Lord while He may be found, and call upon Him while He is near. His blood washes whiter than snow.
A few years ago someone asked me, “What are your plans for the coming year?” I said that I am just going to keep living for Jesus, keep believing He is my healer, my sanctifier, my hope, my coming king and my provider. Do I watch the news? Yes. Do I see sorrow? Yes. Do I hear of wars? Yes. Do I see deception in the church and false teachers? Yes. Do I see signs of the end times? Yes. But praise be unto God I read Matthew 24 and I hear Jesus talking; I hear Him say, “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
That’s why I can sing this old song:
“Great is thy faithfulness,
Great is thy faithfulness,
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed thy hand hath provided,
Great is thy faithfulness Lord unto me.”
Praise the Lord!
May the blessings of the Lord rest upon you and your loved ones!
